COVID-19 Weekend Update: 11/27-11/29

By Sandra Folarin and Jeffrey Softcheck, MBA

As of Saturday, November 27th, 79,055 tests were logged. 69,271 of those were Molecular tests (87.6%) and 9,784 were Antigen tests (12.4%). UIUC saliva testing was not reported or included due to the fall break.

7,873 newly confirmed or probable cases were logged, for a daily case positivity rate of 9.96%. This marked 6 of the last 8 days under 10%. Although 10% is double where we want to be, it is still progress and shows that the precautions you take are working.

Bed utilization looks tight across the state and it shifts drastically some days from region to region. there are 9 of 11 regions under 25% ICU capacity and 5 of those 9 are in the teens. For example, region 3, which comprises 18 counties, is at 14% and only 25 of 175 beds not in use.

Although we’re making progress, the work is not done yet. Numbers may increase in these next few weeks after Thanksgiving. Continue to be safe, stay vigilant, and stay masked.
